Episode 2 — The Egg That Chose Him
Kai’s body slammed against the frozen cave floor as waves of blue energy exploded around him.
The entire mountain trembled violently.
Cracks spread across the icy walls while giant crystals pulsed with glowing light.
The dragon egg continued beating like a living heart.
THUMP.
THUMP.
THUMP.
Kai struggled to breathe.
His entire body burned with strange energy flowing beneath his skin.
The glowing blue symbols across the cave walls suddenly began moving like liquid fire.
And then—
The egg cracked again.
CRACK.
A larger fracture spread across the black shell.
Blue light poured from inside.
Kai slowly stepped backward in fear.
The air inside the chamber became heavier.
Warmer.
Alive.
Outside, thunder roared across the mountains.
Then suddenly—
A monstrous roar echoed somewhere deep beneath the earth.
The sound was ancient.
Massive.
Terrifying.
Kai froze instantly.
The roar did not come from the egg.
Something else was down there.
Watching.
Waiting.
The dragon egg pulsed faster.
CRACK.
More pieces fell away.
A glowing blue eye appeared through the broken shell.
Kai’s breathing stopped.
The eye slowly blinked.
Not human.
Not animal.
Something ancient.
The cave became silent.
The small creature inside the egg slowly pushed forward.
Broken shell pieces shattered onto the stone altar.
Then finally—
The dragon emerged.
Its scales were black as midnight.
Thin glowing blue lines moved beneath its scales like flowing energy.
Small horns curved backward from its head.
Its glowing blue eyes stared directly at Kai.
The baby dragon growled softly.
Kai stared in disbelief.
“A… dragon…”
The creature tilted its head curiously.
For several seconds neither moved.
Then suddenly—
The dragon leaped off the altar.
Kai panicked and stumbled backward.
But instead of attacking…
The small dragon walked toward him slowly.
Its claws clicked softly against the frozen stone.
Closer.
Closer.
Then it stopped directly in front of him.
The dragon sniffed his hand.
Warm air escaped its nostrils.
Kai’s fear slowly faded.
Carefully…
He reached forward.
The dragon allowed him to touch its head.
The moment their skin connected—
A violent pulse exploded inside Kai’s mind.
Visions flooded his eyes again.
Ancient dragon riders soaring across burning skies.
Massive wars between dragons and humans.
Dark armies marching beneath crimson banners.
And finally—
A gigantic black dragon with glowing blue eyes staring down at him.
The dragon opened its mouth.
“Kai Ravenwood…”
Kai gasped violently.
The vision disappeared instantly.
The small dragon remained in front of him.
But now something had changed.
Kai could feel its emotions.
Fear.
Loneliness.
Hunger.
Confusion.
And somehow…
The dragon could feel his emotions too.
A bond.
Ancient and powerful.
The baby dragon moved closer and gently pressed its head against Kai’s chest.
Blue energy spread across Kai’s arm like glowing veins.
A strange symbol appeared briefly on his skin before fading away.
Far beneath the mountain—
The crimson eyes opened wider.
A deep voice echoed through the darkness.
“The Blood Heir has awakened…”
Suddenly—
The cave shook again.
Huge chunks of ice crashed from above.
Kai looked upward in panic.
The mountain was collapsing.
“We need to go!”
The dragon immediately looked toward him.
It understood.
Kai quickly grabbed his winter coat while the baby dragon followed beside him.
The cave continued breaking apart around them.
Blue crystals exploded from the walls.
Ancient pillars collapsed into the snow.
Kai ran as fast as he could toward the exit.
The small dragon sprinted beside him with surprising speed.
Then—
A gigantic crack split across the floor behind them.
A massive roar erupted beneath the mountain once again.
This time louder.
Closer.
The dragon suddenly hissed aggressively toward the darkness below.
Its glowing blue eyes narrowed.
Kai looked down into the giant crack.
Deep beneath the earth…
Something enormous moved in the darkness.
Then suddenly—
A gigantic crimson eye opened below them.
Kai’s blood froze.
The eye alone was larger than an entire house.
The creature beneath the mountain was impossibly huge.
And it was staring directly at him.
RUN.
The voice echoed inside Kai’s mind.
The baby dragon screamed loudly.
Kai turned instantly and ran.
The cave collapsed behind them as they escaped into the snowstorm outside.
Freezing winds slammed against Kai’s face.
But the storm no longer felt empty.
Now…
He was no longer alone.
Beside him, the baby dragon growled softly while snow fell across its black scales.
Kai looked at the creature beside him.
The dragon looked back.
