Episode 3 — The Beast Beneath the Mountain

The snowstorm screamed across the mountains.
Kai ran through the freezing night while snow exploded beneath his feet.
Beside him, the newborn dragon sprinted across the icy terrain with unnatural speed.
Behind them—
The mountain continued collapsing.
Massive explosions echoed through the frozen cliffs as ancient ice shattered into darkness.
Kai could still feel it.
That eye.
That enormous crimson eye staring into his soul.
His breathing became heavier.
The dragon beside him suddenly growled softly.
It sensed the fear inside him.
Kai glanced down at the creature.
The small dragon’s glowing blue eyes reflected the storm around them.
For a moment…
Kai no longer felt alone.
Hours later—
The storm slowly weakened.
Kai collapsed beside a frozen cliff, exhausted.
The baby dragon stopped nearby and carefully watched him.
Its breathing created small clouds of steam in the cold air.
Kai’s hands trembled violently.
He was freezing.
The dragon slowly walked closer.
Then something unexpected happened.
Blue light pulsed beneath the creature’s scales.
Its body became warm.
Very warm.
The dragon curled beside Kai protectively.
Warmth spread through the boy’s frozen body almost instantly.
Kai looked at the creature in shock.
“You’re helping me…”
The baby dragon blinked slowly.
Almost proudly.
Kai smiled weakly.
“I think… I should give you a name.”
The dragon tilted its head curiously.
Kai stared into its glowing blue eyes.
Then suddenly—
A strange word echoed inside his mind.
Nyrax.
Kai froze.
The dragon reacted immediately.
Its glowing eyes widened slightly.
“Nyrax…”
The dragon growled softly again.
It recognized the name.
Kai’s heartbeat quickened.
The name had not come from him.
Something ancient inside the bond had spoken.
“Your name is Nyrax.”
The dragon gently pressed its head against Kai’s shoulder.
The bond between them grew stronger.
Suddenly—
Nyrax hissed aggressively.
Its head snapped toward the darkness ahead.
Kai immediately stood up.
“What is it?”
Then he heard it.
Crunch.
Crunch.
Heavy footsteps in the snow.
Something large moved through the storm.
Two glowing yellow eyes appeared between the trees.
Then another.
And another.
Kai stepped backward slowly.
Snow Wolves.
Massive creatures emerged from the darkness.
Their white fur blended perfectly into the storm.
Each beast was nearly twice the size of a normal wolf.
Sharp fangs glistened beneath the moonlight.
The pack slowly surrounded them.
Nyrax lowered his body aggressively.
Blue energy flickered beneath his scales.
Kai grabbed a broken tree branch from the ground.
The wolves growled deeply.
The largest wolf stepped forward first.
Its eyes locked onto Kai.
Then—
It attacked.
The beast lunged through the snow at terrifying speed.
“KAI!”
A voice suddenly echoed inside his head.
Nyrax.
Before Kai could react—
Nyrax exploded forward.
The small dragon slammed directly into the wolf midair.
Both creatures crashed violently across the snow.
Kai stared in shock.
Nyrax was fast.
Much faster than any normal animal.
The wolves circled aggressively.
Nyrax stood protectively in front of Kai.
Blue light began glowing inside the dragon’s mouth.
The air around them suddenly became hotter.
The wolves hesitated.
Then Nyrax opened his jaws.
BOOM.
A blast of glowing blue fire exploded across the snow.
The nearest wolf was thrown backward violently.
The entire forest illuminated blue for a split second.
Kai’s eyes widened.
“Fire…”
The remaining wolves immediately backed away in fear.
Nyrax growled louder.
Blue smoke escaped his mouth.
The pack slowly retreated into the storm.
One by one…
The glowing yellow eyes disappeared into darkness.
Silence returned.
Kai stared at Nyrax in disbelief.
“You saved me…”
Nyrax looked exhausted.
The dragon stumbled slightly after using the flames.
Kai quickly moved beside him.
“You’re hurt.”
The dragon’s breathing became heavy.
Its body was still too young.
Using dragon fire had weakened it.
Kai carefully wrapped his coat around the creature.
Snow continued falling around them.
Far away—
Unknown eyes watched from the darkness.
Hidden atop the cliffs stood a hooded figure riding a massive armored dragon.
The rider stared directly at Kai and Nyrax below.
“The prophecy…”
The rider’s dragon growled deeply.
The hooded figure slowly smiled beneath the mask.
“So the Blood Heir truly lives.”
Lightning flashed across the sky.

And somewhere far beyond the mountains…
War slowly began moving toward Frost Hollow.
