Episode 7 — The Monster on the Wall
The alarms screamed across the Sanctuary.
Massive bells echoed through ancient stone halls while dragon riders rushed through the fortress carrying glowing weapons.
Outside—
The storm had become violent beyond anything Kai had ever seen.
Lightning ripped across the mountains.
Snow exploded against the walls.
And somewhere above the fortress…
Something enormous climbed through the darkness.
Commander Vaelor immediately grabbed his sword.
“All riders to the upper walls!”
Dragon riders sprinted toward the fortress towers.
Seraphine turned toward Kai instantly.
“You stay here.”
Kai shook his head.
“No.”
Nyrax growled beside him despite the pain in his shoulder.
The newborn dragon could feel Kai’s emotions clearly now.
Fear.
Anger.
Determination.
Vaelor looked toward the boy seriously.
“If that creature reaches the inner fortress, everyone dies.”
The chamber trembled violently again.
Stone cracked overhead.
Then—
BOOM.
A deafening impact shook the Sanctuary.
Dust exploded from the ceiling.
Far outside—
People screamed.
Kai’s heart raced.
Nyrax suddenly hissed aggressively toward the chamber entrance.
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
Vaelor led them through the fortress halls toward the upper battlements.
Kai stared around in awe while chaos erupted everywhere.
Dragon riders prepared massive ballista weapons.
Silver dragons roared from giant stone stables.
Warriors carried burning blue crystals through the halls.
The Sanctuary looked like a kingdom preparing for war.
Then Kai finally reached the outer wall.
And froze.
The creature climbing the fortress was enormous.
Far larger than any dragon Kai had ever imagined.
Its body looked twisted and ancient.
Black armored scales covered its massive form.
Gigantic claws pierced directly into the fortress walls.
Rows of glowing crimson eyes opened across its face.
Too many eyes.
Its mouth stretched unnaturally wide filled with broken jagged teeth.
And attached to its back—
Were shattered dragon wings.
The creature looked wrong.
Corrupted.
Like a dragon twisted into something monstrous.
Kai whispered softly—
“What is that thing…?”
Vaelor’s expression darkened.
“A Void Dragon.”
Lightning illuminated the monster completely.
The creature roared.
The sound shook the mountains themselves.
Several riders covered their ears in pain.
Nyrax trembled beside Kai.
The newborn dragon’s instincts screamed with terror.
The Void Dragon slowly climbed higher across the fortress wall.
Each movement shattered ancient stone.
Its crimson eyes suddenly locked directly onto Kai.
Then the monster smiled.
A horrible…
Human-like smile.
“The Heir…”
The voice echoed inside Kai’s mind.
The creature spoke without opening its mouth.
Ancient.
Deep.
Rotting.
Kai stepped backward in horror.
The Void Dragon growled louder.
“BRING ME THE BOY.”
Then it attacked.
BOOM.
The creature smashed directly into the upper battlements.
Stone exploded everywhere.
Dragon riders were thrown violently through the air.
The monster’s claws ripped through towers like paper.
One massive silver dragon attacked from above—
But the Void Dragon grabbed it instantly.
CRUNCH.
The silver dragon screamed as bones shattered.
Kai watched in horror.
The monster threw the dragon off the fortress wall into darkness below.
Chaos erupted everywhere.
Ballista weapons fired glowing spears into the creature’s body.
The Void Dragon barely reacted.
Its scales were too strong.
Too ancient.
The creature unleashed black flames across the battlements.
Entire sections of the wall exploded.
Dragon riders burned alive.
Seraphine mounted her silver dragon immediately.
“Protect the civilians!”
The dragon launched into the storm.
Vaelor shouted orders desperately.
“Hold the wall!”
Nyrax growled beside Kai.
Blue energy flickered beneath his scales again.
But Kai could feel something else through the bond.
Rage.
The newborn dragon hated the Void Dragon instinctively.
Like ancient blood remembered ancient enemies.
Suddenly—
The Void Dragon looked directly at Nyrax.
Its crimson eyes widened.
Then—
The monster became furious.
“THE SHADOW HEIR…”
The entire fortress shook violently.
Vaelor’s face turned pale.
“No…”
Kai turned toward him.
“What does that mean?!”
But before Vaelor could answer—
The Void Dragon charged directly toward them.
“KAI RUN!”
Nyrax leaped in front of Kai protectively.
Blue flames erupted from the newborn dragon’s mouth.
The fire slammed into the Void Dragon’s face.
For one split second—
The monster actually stopped.
Everyone froze.
The Void Dragon slowly looked down at Nyrax.
And smiled again.
“Interesting…”
Then the creature slammed one gigantic claw downward.
Nyrax and Kai were blasted violently across the battlements.
Kai crashed hard against broken stone.
Pain exploded through his body.
Nearby—
Nyrax cried out weakly.
The newborn dragon could barely stand anymore.
The Void Dragon slowly approached them through burning ruins.
Nobody could stop it.
Not the riders.
Not the dragons.
Not even Seraphine.
The creature lowered its massive head toward Kai.
Crimson eyes glowing like hellfire.
“You belong to HIM.”
Then suddenly—
Kai’s arm ignited with blue light.
The dragon mark exploded across his skin.
Ancient energy erupted outward.
The storm above the Sanctuary froze instantly.
Even the snow stopped falling.
Everyone stared in shock.
The Void Dragon itself stepped backward.
Afraid.
For the first time—
Something inside Kai awakened.
