CHAPTER 1 — THE HUMILIATIONN

Every Tuesday.

Exactly noon.

The old man sat in Booth Seven.

Same diner.

Same black coffee.

Same rain-streaked window.

Nobody knew much about him.

Only that people lowered their voices when he entered.

The waitresses called him Mr. Hale.

White hair.

Trimmed beard.

A worn wooden cane resting beside him.

Quiet.

Dignified.

Untouchable.

Until the bikers arrived.

Six motorcycles thundered into the parking lot.

The diner doors burst open.

Heavy boots.

Leather vests.

Loud laughter.

The kind of men who enjoyed being feared.

Their leader spotted the old man immediately.

Something about his calmness bothered him.

He walked straight to Booth Seven.

"Well, look at this."

His hand slammed onto the table.

"A king without a kingdom."

The old man never looked up.

The bikers laughed.

Then came one hard yank.

The cane disappeared from beside the booth.

Coffee splashed.

Glass shattered.

The diner erupted with laughter.

Phones appeared.

People started recording.

But the old man didn't react.

Didn't argue.

Didn't beg.

Didn't even ask for the cane back.

May you like

And somehow...

That silence felt more dangerous than anger.
