Emergency pathways remained independent.
Staff areas moved out of the basement and into daylight.
The marble section where Claire fell was replaced.
Some preservationists objected.
Claire answered:
“History does not require keeping the exact surface that held my blood.”

It displayed a replica necklace, never the original.
Claire kept Evelyn’s pendant.

Claire initially wanted it destroyed.
Workers argued that preserving the mechanism could teach architects and regulators how private smart-home systems become dangerous when one person controls every exit.
She agreed under one condition: the display would not recreate the assault or use her bloodstained dress.
