CHAPTER 2 — THE DOG WOULDN'T LET GO

Without warning, the dog suddenly jumped to its feet.
Its body became rigid.
Its eyes locked onto something.
Then it started barking.
Loud.
Sharp.
Desperate.
The entire church turned.
Guests exchanged confused looks.
The bride immediately knelt down.
Calling its name.
Trying to calm it.
But the dog ignored her.
The barking became even more frantic.
Almost panicked.
Then it lunged forward.
Its teeth grabbed the edge of her wedding dress.
And it started pulling.
Hard.
The bride stumbled backward.
The groom rushed forward.
Trying to pull the dog away.
But the animal refused to let go.
It wasn't acting aggressive.
It wasn't acting angry.
It was acting terrified.
As if it was trying to stop something.
As if it knew something nobody else did.
The tension spread through the church.
People stopped smiling.
Stopped whispering.
Stopped moving.
May you like
Because suddenly the dog seemed less like a disruption...
And more like a warning.
