The state formally cleared Benjamin Reed and the two workers blamed for the Plant Nine fire.
Aureus proposed renaming its headquarters after Benjamin.
Mason refused immediate approval.
The dead workers’ families had also lost names beneath the same lie.
Plant Nine became the Benjamin Reed, Tomas Vega, and Arthur Lin Safety Institute.
The institute trained mechanics, engineers, inspectors, and executives together.
No group attended only as lecturers or only as students.
The first exhibit showed the counterfeit bearing that triggered Benjamin’s investigation.
Beside it sat a clean bearing manufactured to specification.
They looked almost identical.
The lesson was not that corruption always appeared dramatic.
Sometimes the difference between safety and catastrophe measured less than a millimeter.
Mason placed no heroic portrait of his father at the entrance.
Benjamin had made mistakes, argued badly, and sometimes treated urgency as permission to dismiss colleagues.
Clearing the false accusation did not require turning him into a perfect man.
His final act mattered because he preserved evidence and refused unsafe parts.
Mason visited the institute alone before opening.
He placed one grease-stained shop towel beside the original purchase orders.
His father had also worked with his hands.
For years, the family name carried ash.
