Vivian was arrested at the Hale residence.
Police found packed luggage, foreign currency, and a passport issued under another name.
Her attorneys argued that travel plans proved nothing because threats had begun after the funeral.
Then investigators recovered messages from her encrypted phone.
Bury by noon.
The board vote begins at four.
If the boy returns, handle it quietly.
The driver who chased Leo agreed to testify after prosecutors showed him the messages.
He claimed Vivian told him the child had stolen jewelry from the funeral home.
Leo had stolen nothing.
Vivian had used the same accusation against two former foundation employees who questioned contracts.
One accountant lost her career after a diamond bracelet appeared in her desk.
A clinic director was arrested when expensive medication was found in his car.
Both cases were now linked to Vivian’s security staff.
During questioning, Vivian continued calling Victor’s condition a tragic misunderstanding.
Detective Brooks placed a photograph of his injured fingers on the table.
“He tried to claw through the coffin.”
Vivian looked away.
“You knew he was conscious.”
“No.”
“You ordered another dose because Simon said the first was wearing off.”
“I wanted to prevent suffering.”
“By burying him?”
Vivian requested her attorney.
As officers escorted her out, reporters gathered behind the gates.
She raised her chin and appeared composed.
Leo saw the footage.
At the cemetery, Vivian’s calm voice had nearly persuaded adults that he was confused.
Now he understood something Victor once told him in Ward Seven:
A steady voice can carry a lie. A frightened voice can carry the truth.
The voice did not decide which one deserved belief.
Evidence did.
Vivian’s packed luggage contained no personal photographs of Victor.
Her suitcase held account codes, jewelry, medication records, and a folder labeled TRANSITION.
The folder contained prepared statements for three possible outcomes:
Victor dies peacefully.
Victor’s body shows unexpected signs.
A disruptive witness appears.
Each statement framed Vivian as grieving, confused, and protective of family privacy.
Leo’s arrival had been anticipated as a category even before anyone knew who the witness would be.
The discovery unsettled Adrian more than the money.
Vivian had treated emotion as part of operational planning.
Her tears at the cemetery were not proof she felt nothing.
