Some families were angry with Leah despite the evidence.
She had returned.
Their relatives had not.
Leah accepted that grief did not become fair simply because the record was corrected.
She attended meetings only when invited.
Daniel helped create a support network for survivors pressured into contractor-controlled treatment. Military patients gained the right to independent legal advice before signing classified rehabilitation agreements.
The families also demanded control over memorial language.
No inscription could describe the mission as an unavoidable software failure.
The final memorial read:
THEY SERVED DURING A MISSION COMPROMISED BY HUMAN CHOICES HIDDEN BEHIND AUTOMATION.
Some officials disliked the wording.
The families kept it.
Machines had not betrayed the unit independently.
