Hale-Seven was an executive override credential.
Aegis Meridian told the military it existed only for laboratory testing. The key allowed an authorized engineer to alter Sentinel route priorities, threat maps and emergency beacons.
Adrian controlled it.
During Operation Night Lantern, Hale-Seven entered the mission network eleven times.
The first access removed Connor’s northern-route restriction.
The second altered weather data.
The third changed the rescue beacon after Lantern One crashed.
The final access authorized the private drone’s targeting coordinates.
Adrian’s attorney argued that credentials could be stolen.
General Knox produced building-access logs.
Adrian entered the Aegis control center thirty minutes before the mission and remained there until after the drone strike. He had denied being present.
The prosecution then revealed financial motive.
Connor discovered Aegis used falsified test data to secure Sentinel certification. He planned to deliver the records to military investigators after the evacuation mission.
If the system failed publicly, Aegis would lose contracts worth billions. Adrian’s shares were pledged against loans that would become due immediately.
He did not need Connor killed specifically, the attorney argued.
He needed the recorder destroyed.
The distinction offered little comfort.
Adrian redirected aircraft through an active threat zone, falsified rescue coordinates and authorized a drone strike against a crash site containing American personnel.
Judge Emerson converted the hearing into an emergency evidentiary proceeding and referred the matter to federal prosecutors.
Adrian attempted to leave.
Court officers stopped him.
Margaret remained standing near the lectern.
“You told me the key did not exist.”
Adrian lowered his voice.
“Mother, this is not the place.”
For years, those words had ended difficult family conversations.
Margaret looked at the flag behind the judge.
“My son died because you decided your company mattered more than his aircraft.”
Adrian said Connor had threatened thousands of jobs and national defense readiness.
Margaret heard the management language beneath the family voice.
