The bloodied napkin remained in federal storage through every appeal.
When it was returned, Mara considered throwing it away.
A museum requested it for an exhibit about corporate whistleblowers. Reporters called it the object that brought down Hawthorne power.
Mara declined.
The napkin had not brought down anything.
It held blood after an injury.
The phone call, evidence network, witnesses and investigators created the legal outcome.
Turning the napkin into a relic risked making violence appear necessary before a woman deserved belief.
Mara allowed the unsigned merger papers and Protocol Nine card into the public archive instead. The documents showed the attempted coercion without displaying her body.
She burned the napkin privately.
Lila stood nearby but did not speak.
The flame consumed the red stain first, then the white cloth.
Mara felt no dramatic release.
She felt ownership.
The injury had entered the court record. Its physical remainder no longer belonged to public history.
