Two years after the terminal confrontation, Gabriel invited Amelia to Gate Twelve after midnight.
She expected a safety inspection.
The service tunnel was empty except for the repaired cargo equipment and Miguel’s warning report displayed inside the worker center.
Gabriel held no photographers, musicians, or staff lines.
Only a small ring.
Amelia looked at it and laughed softly.
“You bought an airport before telling me. Please do not tell me you arranged a secret wedding too.”
“No.”
He became serious.
“I hid part of my life because I believed confidentiality justified it. Your father used secrecy to control people. I do not want our future built on either version.”
He opened a folder before opening the ring box.
Inside were complete financial disclosures, the trust structure controlling his airport shares, and a proposed agreement protecting Amelia’s legal independence.
She stared at him.
“This is the least romantic proposal I have ever seen.”
“I can put the folder away.”
“No. Keep it.”
Gabriel knelt.
“Amelia Vance, will you marry me without becoming responsible for my company, my grief, or the choices my name carries?”
She looked at the old service tunnel.
“Will you disagree with me when I sue your contractors?”
“Frequently.”
“Will you ever threaten to deport me?”
“Only from the kitchen if you make coffee the way you did last week.”
She laughed and said yes.
They told Elena first.
The wedding took place months later in a public garden near the airport.
No executive aircraft arrived.
Employees attended as guests, not staff.
Amelia kept the Vance surname professionally and added Navarro privately.
She refused suggestions to erase her father’s name.
“I will not let him define what I do with it.”
