The founder token opened the emergency ledger through a secure terminal inside Reed Trust headquarters.
Naomi entered with Maya, a forensic accountant named Rosa Medina, and Detective Isaac Cole from the financial crimes unit.
The ledger displayed two columns.
The first showed authorized Reed assets.
The second showed shadow obligations created by Sterling managers.
Loans to Sterling Private Capital.
Payments to Lenora’s personal household.
Private school tuition for distant relatives.
Political donations routed through the Sterling Foundation.
Luxury purchases categorized as “beneficiary representation.”
The black card was only the smallest leak.
Over fifteen years, the Sterlings extracted 186 million dollars.
Some transfers used Naomi’s forged approval.
Others relied on the false medical extension.
The largest category was labeled Project Lily.
Naomi’s daughter’s name appeared before she was born.
Rosa opened the files.
Project Lily was a succession strategy. If Naomi became legally incapacitated or died, Lily’s assets would enter child management. Lenora had positioned herself as proposed family guardian while Ethan would become financial custodian.
A draft medical report described Naomi as suffering postpartum psychosis.
It was dated three months before Lily’s birth.
Another file contained staged photographs of wine bottles, medication, and a broken lamp in Naomi’s old apartment.
Ethan had been preparing to portray her as unstable.
Maya found a proposed custody petition alleging Naomi endangered Lily during sleep-deprived episodes.
None of the events occurred.
Naomi sat very still.
She remembered Ethan encouraging her to take naps while Lenora watched the baby. She remembered him asking whether motherhood ever made her feel “detached from reality.” She thought he was concerned.
He was gathering phrases.
The ledger also listed payments to a private investigator who followed Naomi during the divorce.
One report noted where she stored the founder token.
The apartment break-in had not been desperate improvisation.
It was the final step in a prepared plan.
Isaac requested arrest warrants for Lenora and two Sterling executives.
Lenora left her townhouse before police arrived.
Her car was found at a private airport.
No flight plan listed her name, but security footage showed her boarding a jet owned by a Reed shell company.
She was fleeing using Naomi’s asset.
The trust remotely grounded the aircraft before takeoff.
Lenora refused to leave the cabin.
She called Naomi.
“You are humiliating the family over bookkeeping.”
Naomi answered, “You prepared to take my child.”
“We prepared for your weakness.”
“You invented it.”
“All mothers become unstable when abandoned.”
The sentence revealed the strategy.
Lenora believed divorce itself could manufacture the behavior needed to justify the file.
Naomi looked at Lily sleeping in a carrier beside the terminal.
“No,” she said. “Some women become clear.”
