He did not ask for reunion.
He described the moment Eleanor slapped her.
I saw your face and then looked at the tiara because I was still thinking about the plan. I have spent years trying to rewrite that memory so I moved toward you first. I did not.
Clara read the sentence twice.
It matched her memory.
He apologized for loving an imagined future more than the person standing beside him.
Clara did not answer.
She placed the letter in a private box, not the public archive.
His honesty belonged to her decision about what to carry.
When Julian left prison years later, he worked in records digitization under financial restrictions. The museum did not employ him.
He requested one supervised visit to the restitution galleries.
The council approved it as a public visitor.
He stood before the empty walls and read every label.
