Arthur’s private papers showed that Vivienne’s authority should have ended five years after his death.
Instead, she filed a declaration stating Elena and Rose were both deceased. The trust entered perpetual stewardship, allowing Vivienne to manage assets indefinitely.
She could not own or sell the core fortune.
She could use income, residences, aircraft, staff, and corporate power as long as she preserved principal value.
The arrangement made her appear richer than ownership would have.
She enjoyed every benefit without inheritance taxes or personal liability.
Rose’s survival threatened the declaration.
Elena’s public emergence ended it.
Vivienne had known Elena was alive for at least nine years.
A background investigation ordered before Grant’s promotion identified his wife as Rose Hart’s daughter. Vivienne did not reveal it because Grant provided an opportunity.
She could observe Elena through her husband, influence the marriage, and perhaps obtain documents without alerting the trustees.
Grant was not originally part of the plan.
His ambition made recruitment easy.
Vivienne praised him, promoted him, and gradually suggested Elena limited his potential. Camille supplied affection without criticism.
Grant began seeing his wife as the final object between himself and recognition.
At a recorded deposition, Vivienne described the process without remorse.
“I did not instruct him to mistreat her.”
“You ordered him to prove loyalty,” Maya said.
“I asked whether he could separate personal weakness from professional duty.”
“By forcing his wife to kneel?”
“That was his choice.”
Vivienne’s answer was legally useful and morally incomplete.
She created the stage.
Grant performed willingly.
Investigators then found Arthur’s original medical records. His fatal heart attack followed an unapproved medication change signed by the same doctor who confined Rose.
Vivienne denied involvement.
The doctor had died.
But one nurse remained alive.
Lorraine Bell’s older sister, Margaret, had worked in Arthur’s home clinic. She remembered Vivienne bringing replacement tablets and dismissing the night nurse.
Margaret kept one pill because its color looked wrong.
A university laboratory tested it decades later.
It contained a drug dangerous for Arthur’s heart condition.
The evidence could not prove who administered the fatal dose.
It proved his treatment had been altered.
Vivienne’s stewardship began after three convenient deaths: Daniel’s, Arthur’s, and Rose’s legal identity.
