Claire went into labor five weeks early.
The hospital locked down the maternity floor.
Evelyn remained on bail but under electronic monitoring. Vale was in custody. Westbridge investigators had attempted to contact a nurse on Claire’s team.
No risk was treated as theoretical.
Gabriel arrived after receiving permission.
He waited outside until Claire asked for him.
The labor became complicated when the baby’s heart rate dropped. Dr. Ortiz recommended emergency surgery.
Claire consented.
Gabriel did not attempt to influence the decision.
He held her hand until the operating-room doors closed.
Their daughter, Anna Arthur Sterling, was born weighing four pounds, eleven ounces.
She required respiratory support but was stable.
Gabriel saw her first through the neonatal-unit glass.
He did not announce her birth publicly.
He did not inform Evelyn.
Claire chose when and how family members learned.
Emma visited after two days.
Marcus brought Arthur’s final letter, which instructed the trustees not to treat the child as a symbol of the company.
“She is a person before she is a beneficiary,” Arthur had written.
Claire placed the letter inside Anna’s hospital box.
The trust activated formally upon birth.
No celebration occurred in the boardroom.
The independent trustees issued one notice.
The child’s voting rights remained protected, and no family member would exercise them alone.
