Arthur selected a simple ceiling camera because Evelyn noticed complicated security systems.
The device used a separate cellular connection and stored recordings outside Sterling networks. Its red light could not be disabled remotely.
Marcus Reed installed it personally.
Arthur told him the suite was the location Evelyn would choose if she needed medical authority, privacy and access to medication.
Marcus asked why Arthur did not confront her immediately.
Arthur said he lacked enough evidence and feared Evelyn would remove Claire from the hospital system before the baby was born.
That explanation did not absolve him.
Arthur had remained married to Evelyn through years of warnings. He built safeguards while leaving the target near danger.
Claire understood the contradiction.
The camera saved her.
It also existed because Arthur expected an assault he did not prevent in time.
At the evidentiary hearing, Evelyn’s attorney called the recording illegal surveillance.
The court ruled that the hospital suite belonged to Sterling Medical, not Evelyn, and Arthur had installed it as trust protector after documented medication discrepancies. Claire also consented retroactively to its use in her case.
The attorney argued the red light encouraged Evelyn to speak falsely in panic.
The judge watched the full forty-minute recording.
Evelyn entered calmly.
She added medication.
She presented the trust paper.
She threatened Claire.
She pushed her.
Nothing about the sequence depended on panic.
