Ashford stock fell sharply. Commentators accused her of destroying the family brand.

Henry supported publication.

A younger version of him would have hidden the report to preserve stability. Now he understood that stability built on silence was simply delayed collapse.

Claire proposed converting forty percent of family voting shares into a permanent public-benefit trust governed by employees, community representatives, and independent experts. The family would retain wealth but lose the ability to control the company without oversight.

Several relatives threatened to sue.

Henry signed first.
