Rebecca retired two years after the trial.
At the ceremony, an aide prepared to remove the two general stars from her uniform and place them in a velvet case.
Rebecca stopped him.
She removed them herself.
One became part of the military-history archive alongside Emily’s pendant and the Khemara records. The second she kept.
She did not turn it into jewelry.
She placed it inside Emily’s old compass box with Daniel’s notebook, Noah’s recording request and Maya’s first defect photograph.
