Samuel and Serena were tried together on conspiracy, attempted murder, fraud, forgery and obstruction charges.
Bell and Calvin testified under agreements.
Noah described the vial and whispered warning.
Dr. Ortiz explained the sample chain and white-glass protocol.
Evelyn testified for two days.
Samuel’s attorney asked whether she staged the gala collapse to trap her son.
“Yes,” Evelyn said.
The courtroom shifted.
The attorney expected denial.
She continued.
“I created the appearance he expected after learning a poisoned drink had been placed before me. The poison existed before the performance.”
He asked whether she had always favored control over Samuel’s independence.
Evelyn admitted she could be demanding and slow to relinquish authority.
“Did that justify poisoning you?”
“No.”
The direct answer ended the detour.
Samuel took the stand.
He claimed Bell assured him the dose was safe. He wanted Evelyn observed during a temporary sleep episode so the board would accept emergency leadership.
The prosecutor displayed the message:
MEDICAL TIMELINE GUARANTEED.
Samuel said he meant recovery.
Then came the draft obituary found on Serena’s laptop.
Evelyn Pierce, visionary founder, died peacefully following a sudden neurological event.
The file was created two days before the gala.
The jury convicted both defendants on every major count.
Samuel received a lengthy prison sentence. Serena received a separate sentence and restitution order. Bell and Calvin were punished according to their roles and cooperation.
Evelyn watched the verdict without satisfaction.
