The banquet department created a new safety rule after the gala.
No employee could be ordered to add medication, supplements or private substances to a guest’s drink. Any unusual request required documented medical authorization and independent confirmation.
More importantly, staff could stop service without manager approval if tampering was suspected.
Employees called it the Empty Glass Policy.
Noah disliked the name at first. It sounded as though the glass had saved Evelyn.
People had.
The final policy included mandatory preservation steps, protection from retaliation and direct access to outside investigators.
Within a year, a bartender used it when a guest attempted to drug a date at a conference. Security intervened before the drink reached anyone.
Another employee preserved evidence of a manager diluting expensive alcohol and stealing the difference.
Not every case involved an empire.
That made the system successful.
It functioned before danger became famous.
