Six months later, Vale Meridian reopened Claire’s medical imaging project.
The company offered her the executive role once denied to her.
Claire refused at first.
Then she negotiated.
The board accepted every condition.
Adrian did not participate in the vote.
He wanted no one to say Claire’s return depended on his favor.
Adrian spent Saturdays with the twins.
He learned pancakes, though Eli still called them “flat disasters.” He learned Noah hated loud elevators and Eli loved sharks more than dinosaurs. He learned both boys slept with one foot outside the blanket.
Claire watched consistency replace apology.
Slowly.
Carefully.
She did not return to Adrian.
