Marcus arrived in the lobby smiling.
He entered the conference room in a dark suit and stopped when he saw the twins.
The smile vanished.
Noah held the dinosaur against his chest.
Marcus looked at Claire.
“You should have stayed gone.”
Adrian heard the sentence clearly.
So did Naomi.
Marcus realized his mistake and turned toward his brother.
“You do not understand.”
Adrian stepped between Marcus and the children.
“No. I understand now.”
Naomi placed the evidence pouch on the table.
Marcus’s eyes moved to it.
For one second, fear exposed him completely.
Then he recovered.
“That drive was stolen.”
Claire stood.
“It was hidden inside a toy from my office.”
Marcus looked at the dinosaur.
Adrian watched memory move through his face.
Marcus reached for the pouch.
Naomi pulled it away.
Building security entered through the visible glass door.
Marcus looked at Adrian.
“We are brothers.”
Adrian’s voice broke.
“I treated you like one.”

Then he looked toward Claire and the twins.
“And them like strangers.”
