The emergency board meeting began before sunset.
Claire refused to sit beside Adrian.
She took the chair at the opposite end of the conference table, Noah and Eli resting in a nearby family room with Naomi’s assistant and two staff members Claire approved.
Marcus joined by secure audio from another office under guard.
The directors heard the evidence.
They heard the access logs, the shell company records, and the recording hidden on the drive.
Then they heard Claire.
“My name was removed from the project I created,” she said. “My reputation was destroyed without an independent review. Vale Meridian used my silence as proof when your executives had made speaking dangerous.”
No one interrupted.
Adrian looked at the people around the table who once voted to accuse her.
He had led that vote.
One director suggested a financial settlement.
Claire’s eyes sharpened.
“This is not only about paying me to disappear more comfortably.”
Adrian almost smiled despite the pain.
She was still the woman who refused easy answers.
