It was a medical imaging system designed to detect pediatric heart defects before birth. Claire had led the early engineering team. Her work could have saved children.
Marcus sold parts of the design to a foreign competitor while Vale Meridian blamed Claire and abandoned the project.
Meanwhile, Claire worked nights repairing medical equipment in a rural clinic. She raised twins, cared for her father, and watched another company release a weaker version of the technology she helped create.
Adrian learned all of this while security held Marcus in the adjoining room.
His brother demanded a private conversation.
Adrian refused.
“No more private rooms.”
Naomi contacted federal investigators and Vale Meridian’s board. The data drive was copied under supervision. Access records were frozen. Marcus’s authority was suspended before he could call the legal department.
Claire watched the process without satisfaction.
