Grace had kept every message.
Grace called Adrian immediately. His office assistant said he was in Singapore and unavailable. Her access card stopped working before noon.
A courier delivered the dismissal notice and a settlement agreement requiring silence.
Grace refused to sign.
“She told me you wanted a clean break,” Grace said. “She said Oliver had become too dependent on me and you blamed me for delaying his recovery.”
Adrian closed his eyes.
At the same time, Celeste had shown him a resignation letter stating Grace wanted money and a new life.
Grace continued.
“I tried to reach you. My emails bounced. Your home security listed me as a threat. Your assistant said all communication had to go through Celeste.”
Adrian looked toward his executive assistant, who stood among the guests.
The man’s face went pale.
Celeste spoke quickly.
“Adrian, this is not the place.”
Grace looked around the ballroom.
“You made this the only place I could reach him.”
That silenced Celeste.
Adrian unfolded the dismissal notice again.
His electronic signature looked perfect.
Too perfect.
Only three people had access to his executive authentication system.
