The memory wafer contained a video recorded inside Nathan’s plane hangar two days before his death.
Nathan sat before the camera with Grace beside him.
They looked frightened but determined.
Nathan named the leaders of the Commonwealth Circle and described how Mercer Bank laundered political money through land trusts. He also revealed evidence that Evelyn ordered sabotage against whistleblowers.
“If this recording is being watched,” he said, “someone has decided our daughter is more dangerous alive than our family is dangerous powerful.”
Grace placed one hand over her pregnant stomach.
Nathan continued.
“The child is my legal heir. But I do not want her to inherit a machine built to frighten people. The trust documents in Vault 4417 convert Mercer control into a public stewardship if any family member uses violence or fraud against an heir.”
Evelyn had spent eight years hiding the clause.
Inside the vault were signed originals, aircraft records, and a ledger linking Grant Voss to the replacement of a fuel-control valve on Nathan’s plane.
There were also payments made before Grace’s fatal car crash.
Federal agents arrested Voss.
Evelyn was detained for obstruction and kidnapping, but her attorneys secured temporary release due to age and health.
Judge Samuel Vale recused himself after the ledger revealed payments to his election fund.
Lily returned to Ava.
That evening, she asked why Julian had not protected her father.
Julian sat on the floor so their eyes were level.
“I was afraid of losing my family.”
“You lost him anyway.”
“Yes.”
“Were you afraid of me?”
He considered lying.
“Yes.”
Lily nodded as if she understood more than he wanted her to.
“Because I get his chair?”
“Because you prove he did not disappear.”
Ava watched the exchange.
Julian had helped rescue Lily, but bravery after years of silence did not erase the silence.
The civil registry remained unsigned.
Public pressure grew for Ava to forgive him because he had “chosen the right side.”
She refused to turn one decent decision into absolution.
Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Circle began collapsing.
