Tessa Hale had served twelve years as a paramedic.
She knew injured people could be confused.
She also knew families often tried to answer for them.
Charles stood too close.
Margaret repeated the phrase dizzy spell before Tessa asked a single question.
Julian remained upstairs instead of coming down.
Those details mattered.
Tessa stabilized Lauren’s neck and checked her pupils. One pupil reacted more slowly than the other.
“Did you drink anything?” she asked.
Lauren whispered, “Champagne. No. Tea before.”
Charles interrupted.
“She has panic attacks.”
Tessa looked at him.
“I asked her.”
Lauren’s bracelet flashed again.
Tessa recognized the model. It transmitted data to a hospital monitoring service and stored short audio clips around major cardiac events or falls.
She pressed the emergency contact button.
A nurse answered through the device.
“This is Vale Monitoring. We detected a severe fall and elevated sedative markers from the linked skin sensor.”
Charles went silent.
The bracelet used a small medical patch to track a medication Lauren had never been prescribed.
Tessa requested police and a second ambulance.
