At the hospital, doctors confirmed Lauren had a fractured shoulder, two broken ribs, and a concussion.

She also had a sedative in her bloodstream.

The amount was small but consistent with repeated dosing over several weeks.

The bracelet’s remote service preserved seventeen minutes of audio.

The recording began in the upstairs sitting room.

Julian’s voice was clear.

Sign these before everyone arrives.

Lauren refused.

The audio captured the argument about the trust, the bottle near the champagne, and Lauren asking whether he had drugged her.

Then came Margaret’s voice from below.

“Do not let her leave with the folder.”

Charles answered.

“If she collapses again, the physician can certify her.”

The recording continued onto the balcony.

Lauren said, “Were you drugging me?”

Julian replied, “You made this necessary.”

There was movement.

A cry.

Stone scraping.

Then Charles’s voice from the lawn.

“Say she fainted.”

The hospital room became silent.

Officer Ruiz listened beside the prosecutor and an independent digital examiner.
