The Folder Julian Tried to Burn

Chapter 08 - The Folder Julian Tried to Burn
Julian did not flee the estate.
He went to the study.
Security cameras showed him entering with the folder beneath his shirt. Five minutes later, smoke triggered an alarm in the fireplace.
Police found charred pages inside.
Most were unreadable.
The house printer remembered them.
A forensic technician recovered the digital print queue.
The documents matched Lauren’s description.
Temporary co-trustee authority.
Loan approval.
Medical incapacity control.
A final page had been hidden beneath the others.
It transferred twenty percent of the foundation’s investment reserve into Whitmore Development as a “pre-marital family contribution.”
Lauren’s signature appeared at the bottom.
It was forged.
The printer metadata showed the file came from Charles’s office computer.
The notary seal belonged to a retired employee who had died the previous year.
Julian had planned to present the documents after Lauren’s fall, claiming she signed before becoming unstable.
Her injury was not only punishment.
It was the event that made the forged papers useful.
Police arrested Julian in the study.
