At sentencing, Adrian’s attorneys emphasized his charity work, hospital expansions and years of executive leadership.
Former colleagues wrote letters describing his intelligence and generosity.
Emma did not dispute those qualities.
She told the court that dangerous people were not dangerous every minute. Adrian could comfort a grieving employee and later steal from a maternity program. He could hold Emma during an ultrasound and plan to falsify the child’s identity.
Good acts did not purchase permission for later harm.
She described the hospital sidewalk.
“The most frightening part was not that he gave me forty dollars. It was that he believed no one inside the building had a duty to stop him.”
Administrators had followed an executive discharge order. Staff saw a woman in a gown holding a newborn and assumed someone more powerful had made a legitimate decision.
June was the only employee who came outside.
Emma asked the judge to consider the scale of Adrian’s conduct: stolen funds, corrupted medical records, a newborn used as leverage, employees threatened and community clinics nearly sold.
Adrian received a lengthy prison sentence and restitution orders. He was permanently barred from serving as an officer of a healthcare company.
The divorce court later awarded Emma sole legal custody, with any future contact subject to professional review and Lily’s welfare.
Adrian sent one final message through counsel.
He said Emma had destroyed the family over a mistake.
Emma returned no answer.
A mistake was reversing two digits by accident.
A plan was choosing which digits to reverse, which mother to discredit and which child to deny before the first contraction began.
