Caleb returned to the house under police supervision to collect clothing.
Before leaving, he asked to speak with Officer Brooks.
He handed her a black folder hidden behind a loose panel in Victor’s study.
Inside were draft mortgages, signature samples, and emails between Victor and Lucas. One message discussed obtaining temporary control of Emma’s trust if pregnancy complications made her “medically unavailable.”
Another proposed declaring Emma emotionally unstable after delivery.
Caleb’s name appeared on two financial projections.
He had known more than he admitted.
“Why bring this now?” Brooks asked.
Caleb looked toward the staircase.
“Because I heard her hit every step.”
Victor planned to use Emma’s pregnancy as leverage. If she signed, they received the loan. If she became incapacitated, Lucas would petition for emergency authority as her spouse.
Michael delivered the folder to prosecutors and the trust’s independent board.
Every account linked to the proposed transaction was frozen.
