A DNA Test Daniel Could Not Stop

Chapter 06 - A DNA Test Daniel Could Not Stop
Daniel filed an emergency motion to prevent Jack from contacting the triplets.
He claimed his brother suffered delusions after traumatic brain injury and had become fixated on unrelated children. Northstar attorneys described the park meeting as a planned ambush against Claire.
Claire submitted her own statement.
She confirmed the tattoo, names and false documents but requested supervised contact until DNA results arrived.
Jack supported the restriction.
Daniel’s motion expected him to demand immediate parental rights. His restraint weakened the claim that he was unstable and dangerous.
The court ordered testing.
Daniel’s attorneys requested a laboratory used by Northstar’s insurance division.
The judge selected an independent state facility.
The result showed a 99.9999 percent probability that Jack was the biological father of all three girls.
Claire cried when the attorney read it.
Jack stared at the page without touching it.
DNA proved relation.
It did not create memories of first steps, fevers, school mornings or birthdays.
Daniel responded publicly.
He admitted Jack might be the biological father but said Claire had hidden the pregnancy and manipulated a disabled veteran. The accusation ignored every email Daniel sent before the birth.
Claire released the paternity renunciation carrying Jack’s forged signature.
A document examiner found it had been assembled from a medical-consent page signed at Helix.
The notary worked for Northstar security.
Federal investigators opened a fraud and unlawful-confinement inquiry.
The triplets received the news from a child therapist.
Ava asked whether Jack would live with them now.
Claire answered, “No. He will visit, and we will learn who he is.”
Jack accepted the pace.
Their first supervised visit occurred at the same park.
Sophie touched the compass tattoo and counted the stars.
“Did you know which one was me?”
Jack smiled sadly.
“No. I made one for each of you before I knew your faces.”
She chose the smallest star.
The other girls immediately argued.

For the first time, Jack heard his daughters disagree over something ordinary.
The sound was more painful and beautiful than the DNA result.
