Vivian surrendered to federal agents the day after Shaw’s arrest.
She wore black and entered the courthouse through the front doors, accompanied by attorneys. Her public statement described her as a wife who trusted the wrong doctor.
She admitted discussing medication with Shaw.
She denied intending harm.
According to Vivian, Thomas had become irrational about PulseOne. Canceling the sale would destroy Mercer Health, cost thousands of jobs and expose the network to lawsuits it could not survive.
She believed temporary incapacity was necessary to protect the institution.
The forged DNR, she said, was Shaw’s idea.
The altered proxy came from outside counsel.
The board sale reflected months of legitimate negotiation.
Then investigators recovered messages from her private phone.
Keep him awake enough to sign.
If he refuses, use the second protocol.
Evan must believe the stroke story.
Apex cannot inherit active liability.
Vivian had not been a passive spouse.
She designed the sequence.
At the bail hearing, her lawyer argued she posed no threat because Thomas was awake and corporate control had been frozen.
Ortiz produced a payment to a private investigator assigned to Hannah. The investigator had photographed her home, followed her younger brother and searched for vulnerabilities connected to Emily’s death.
Vivian’s plan included silencing the nurse if necessary.
Bail was denied.
Before officers led her away, she looked at Evan.
“I did this so there would be something left for you.”
Evan answered, “You nearly killed him for an inheritance he never promised me.”
Vivian shook her head.
“You still think hospitals survive on ideals.”
Thomas watched the hearing remotely from his bed.
His speech remained weak, but he typed one response for his attorney.
