Victor Cross had managed foundation finances for nine years.
He greeted Nathan’s questions with injured dignity.
“You are investigating family because an influencer was rude?”
“I’m investigating because your login approved her access to donor records.”
Victor claimed Miles needed the data to target campaign advertisements.
Maya produced the shell-company payments.
Victor called them standard marketing fees.
Then Lena noticed the company addresses.
Three belonged to buildings owned by Cross Haven.
One was an empty housing center scheduled to open six months earlier.
The center had received construction money, staffing money, and launch money.
Yet it had no residents.
Nathan visited without warning.
The building was unfinished. Plastic covered the windows. The heating system had never been installed.
On paper, 112 elderly women lived there.
Their names came from public death records.
The foundation was paying rent, meals, and medical services for women who no longer existed.
