Veronica appeared in court wearing a gray suit instead of velvet.
Her injuries from the pool had healed. Her expression had not softened.
The defense argued that the heel incident was a family argument and that the financial records were separate.
Prosecutors played the footage.
They showed the bracelet placed inside Clara’s bag.
They showed the confession.
They showed Veronica lowering her gold heel onto Clara’s hand.
Then they introduced the medical plan, insurance policy, and recordings from the private office.
The judge denied bail.
As officers led Veronica away, she looked toward Nathan.
“Mom always loved you more.”
Nathan answered, “Mom built a vault because she was afraid of you.”
Veronica’s composure cracked.
She shouted that the mansion, company, and trust belonged to her because she had spent her life preserving them while Nathan traveled and Clara arrived only three years earlier.
The courtroom heard the real motive.
Veronica did not believe she was stealing.
She believed service to the family gave her ownership of everyone inside it.
